On Sunday, the NBA announced that rookie Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs had been fined $25,000 for throwing a basketball into the stands during a game against the New York Knicks. The incident occurred during a close game between the two teams, which ended in overtime with San Antonio winning 130-126.

Wembanyama, who had an impressive performance with 40 points, 20 rebounds, and seven assists, hugged the ball tightly with both arms as the clock ran out. In a moment of excitement, he threw the ball into the stands, presumably to give it to the home crowd. Despite his efforts to explain his actions after the game, he was still fined for violating league rules.

The Knicks’ Jalen Brunson scored an incredible 61 points in the game but was unable to secure a win for his team. The victory was San Antonio’s third in their last five games and provided hope for a turnaround season despite their third-worst record in the NBA.
