Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former Manchester United striker, is reportedly in talks with Burnley to potentially fill their managerial vacancy. The Clarets were recently relegated back to the Championship and saw Vincent Kompany leave to join Bayern Munich. Along with Frank Lampard and Scott Parker, Van Nistelrooy has been in discussions with the club.

According to reports, Van Nistelrooy is close to agreeing on a multi-year deal with Burnley. However, an official announcement is not expected this week. Van Nistelrooy’s only previous experience in senior management was with PSV Eindhoven, where he led the team to second place in the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup success in 2022-23.

During his playing career, Van Nistelrooy scored 95 goals in 150 Premier League games with Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid in 2006. It will be interesting to see if he can replicate his success on the field as a manager with Burnley in the upcoming season.
