The positive outlook for Rutgers football is set to continue this upcoming season, as the Scarlet Knights are currently ranked No. 45 in the ESPN FPI rankings and projected to win seven games.

Rutgers finished at No. 50 in the nation in the ESPN FPI final rankings last season, but their successful turnaround led by head coach Greg Schiano and productive offseason have generated excitement and anticipation among fans. A potential seven wins in the regular season would mark the most victories for Rutgers since 2014, their first season in the Big Ten.

This optimistic projection reflects continued progress for Rutgers, who are ranked No. 11 in the ESPN FPI within the Big Ten conference. Back-to-back winning seasons would have a significant impact on recruiting for Rutgers, showcasing the sustainability of Schiano’s development program model. Among the top six programs in the ESPN FPI rankings, only Indiana has a lower ranking at No. 77.

With a projected win total of 7.2 and a ranking of No. 45 in the nation, it’s clear that Rutgers football is set to have an exciting season ahead.
