A minor blaze broke out on the largest cruise ship in the world, the Icon of the Seas, while it was sailing in Costa Maya, Mexico. The fire occurred in a crew area and was quickly put out without causing any injuries. Despite this incident, the backup power system ensured that the ship remained on course and did not deviate from its week-long Western Caribbean cruise itinerary.

Since its maiden voyage in January, the Icon of the Seas has faced a few challenges. In May, a passenger tragically jumped off the ship while en route to Honduras. Unfortunately, his remains have not been found. Just a month prior, another young passenger fell to his death during a drunken altercation with his father on a different Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

Royal Caribbean has yet to release a statement regarding these incidents.
