The city of Roseville is eagerly anticipating the arrival of Big Boy No. 4014 for its Summer 2024 tour. As the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, Big Boy is set to make a day-long stop in Roseville as part of the “Big Boy Westward Bound” tour.

Roseville, known for its rich railroad history and hosting the largest rail yard in the West, is excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with special events and exhibits. The city is pulling out all the stops to welcome the railroad royalty, showcasing its passion for trains and its deep connection to the railroad industry.

On July 12, Big Boy is scheduled to arrive in Roseville and kick off a day full of festivities that will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 13. At the Vernon Street Town Square in downtown Roseville, visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, a splash pad, a farmers market, and a kid’s zone. The Black Flag Gang will entertain the crowds with special old west performances, adding to the excitement of the event.

In addition to these activities, visitors can also visit the Carnegie Museum in downtown Roseville’s historic old town district where they will be able to see a special exhibit on Big Boy highlighting its significance in railroad history.
