Wyatt Langford, a rookie for the Texas Rangers, had an impressive performance on “Sunday Night Baseball” when he hit for the cycle in an 11-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. In his first four-hit game in his major league career, Langford hit a triple in the fourth inning, followed by a double in the fifth and a single in the sixth. He completed the cycle with a home run off Orioles’ pitcher Matt Krook.

This season, Langford has shown impressive statistics with four home runs, nine doubles, and four triples while maintaining a .260 batting average and .712 OPS in 245 plate appearances. Despite missing a few weeks due to a hamstring injury in May, he played 58 games for the Rangers.

Langford’s cycle was the first hit in MLB since José Altuve achieved it in August 2023 against Boston Red Sox. He is now joining Oddibe McDowell as the only rookies in Rangers franchise history to have accomplished this feat. The last Ranger to do it was Carlos Gomez in 2017. Overall, Langford’s cycle marked the tenth time this achievement has been accomplished by a Ranger player, with two cycles completed by Hall of Famer Adrián Béltre. The first Ranger to ever hit for the cycle was Jim King back when they were known as Washington Senators all way back in 1964.

Langford was picked fourth overall out of Florida during last year’s MLB Draft and made it to Opening Day roster this season after playing multiple levels of minor league system last year.
