Pittsburgh Steelers rookie tackle Troy Fautanu may not be a Week 1 starter as he competes for a starting position with fourth-year veteran Dan Moore Jr. While many expect first-round draft picks to start immediately, Fautanu’s talent and intelligence have him behind Moore on the depth chart.

According to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, Fautanu is one of the “losers” of the Steelers offseason so far. However, this doesn’t mean that Fautanu won’t succeed in the future. He must show improvement to secure a starting role and prove that he deserves his spot on the team.

The Steelers may choose to start Broderick Jones in specific positions during training camp to see how he performs. Both Jones and Moore have excelled on the left side of the field, with Jones filling in for Moore when he suffered an MCL injury and showcasing his potential. Now that Jones has more experience in the NFL, he may push Fautanu’s chances of starting to a later time.

If Moore is likely to start on the left side, Fautanu may need to wait patiently for his opportunity to arise. If Jones is placed on the right side, Fautanu may have to wait even longer. The competition for starting positions on the Steelers’ offensive line is heating up, and Fautanu will need to continue developing if he wants to secure his spot in the lineup.

In conclusion, while Troy Fautanu was expected to be a Week 1 starter as a first-round draft pick, his competition with Dan Moore Jr. for a starting position means that he must work hard and improve if he wants to secure his place in the lineup.
