Al Hilal’s triumph in the King’s Cup final on penalties left Cristiano Ronaldo in tears as his team, Al Nassr, lost. The defeat extended Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian trophy drought, leaving him visibly emotional. Despite bringing an influx of top players to the league last year, Ronaldo was unable to secure a win in this final.

In a dramatic match that saw three red cards, including one for Al Nassr’s goalkeeper David Ospina, the teams were evenly matched until the end. In the last minute, Ayman Yahya scored a late goal for Al Nassr to equalize Al Hilal’s early goal. However, it was not enough as Al Hilal emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, completing the Saudi treble after already winning the Super Cup and the Saudi Pro League title.

Al Nassr finished second in the league behind Al Hilal and previously lost to them in the Super Cup. Despite Ronaldo’s impressive record-breaking performance of scoring 35 goals in the Pro League, his only silverware with Al Nassr is the Arab Club Champions Cup from last year. His contract with Al Nassr will end at the conclusion of next season.
