The Colorado Rockies bounced back from a tough loss to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6 on Wednesday night thanks to Brenton Doyle’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning that broke a tie and allowed Jake Cave to score from third. The victory came after the Rockies blew a five-run lead in the previous night’s game.

In the ninth inning, Cave and Elhehuris Montero led off with singles, followed by a fielder’s choice by rookie Adael Amador. Michael Toglia homered and tripled while Jalen Beeks pitched an inning of relief to help Colorado end a four-game losing streak.

Shohei Ohtani had a strong game for the Dodgers, doubling, singling, and driving in three runs. Freddie Freeman also contributed with two hits. Bobby Miller made his first start since April 10 for the Dodgers after spending more than two months on the injured list due to inflammation in his right shoulder.

Toglia hit a three-run homer off Miller in the first inning, but the Dodgers took a 4-3 lead in the second following Ohtani’s three-run double and Freeman’s RBI single. Jason Heyward doubled home two runs in the fifth off Rockies starter Ryan Feltner.

Dodgers RHP Walker Buehler was placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right hip, while Rockies OF/DH Charlie Blackmon sat out of the game with a sore right hamstring. OF Nolan Jones was a late scratch due to an illness.

In this game, Toglia played an instrumental role as he homered off Miller with his second at bat of the season before being replaced by Garrett Hampson who hit two triples during his time at bat. In contrast, Heyward had one of his better games of late season as he hit two doubles and drove home two runs for LA.

Moving forward, both teams will face different opponents as they continue their respective seasons.
