The Colorado Springs Rocket Society (COS Rocket Society) is facing a significant setback after a theft occurred on May 26th, resulting in the loss of $10,000. A trailer filled with their equipment was stolen from the Challenger Learning Center around 11:33 am. Among the items in the stolen trailer were a control panel, fire extinguishers, and a launcher capable of launching 30 model rockets simultaneously.

The COS Rocket Society, a science club that uses model rocket launches to educate schools, churches, and scouting clubs about physics and aerodynamics, has been providing STEM education for 30 years. Despite the significant loss, the organization remains determined to continue their important work. President Dave Virgo expressed determination and optimism, stating, “We’re still fighting. We’re still great, glad to be here and we will prevail. We will get over this.”

The organization is seeking information about the whereabouts of their equipment and is also grateful for any donations to help them recover from this incident.
