A Basque-influenced chophouse situated in a refurbished 1880s Chicago townhouse has recently secured a high spot on a new ranking of the best steakhouses globally. Asador Bastian, located at 214 W. Erie Street in River North, has achieved the No. 14 spot on the list of “World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants.”

This ranking, released by Upper Crust Media House in London in May, considered over 850 steakhouses worldwide, emphasizing improvements in meat quality, cooking techniques, and customer service. Editors selected the top 101 restaurants based on eight criteria including meat quality, meat selection, service, product knowledge, online presence, wine list, and restaurant interior design.

Asador Bastian combines traditional Basque grilling methods with a modern aesthetic and offers a warm and inviting atmosphere suitable for various occasions. The restaurant opened inside the iconic Chicago building known as the “Flair House” in April of 2023. Bazaar Meat in River North secured the No. 39 spot on the list while Swift & Sons in Fulton Market District made it to No.62 followed by Bavette in River North at No.67 and GT Prime in River North at No.75 respectively .
