In the upcoming elections for the European Parliament, voters across the EU will choose 720 members to represent them in the economic bloc’s Legislature. The focus of these elections is on the nationalist right movement, which is hoping to increase its representation in the Parliament significantly.

One of the most prominent figures in this election is Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who has expressed her desire to unite the nationalist right and center-right forces in the European Parliament. While Meloni is unlikely to step down as prime minister if elected, her candidacy for the European Parliament aims to garner more support for her party, Brothers of Italy.

Recent surveys suggest that the nationalist right could see a substantial increase in seats in the European Parliament, with the main coalitions in that political spectrum potentially reaching 144 seats. This increase in representation highlights the growing popularity of the nationalist right and their demands for changes in EU regulations and migration policies.

The economic crisis and ongoing migration issues are two key points on the nationalist right’s agenda, as they push for reforms within the EU to address these pressing issues. With economic contraction in the Euro Zone and an influx of illegal migrants, the nationalist right is advocating for changes to current policies to better address these challenges.

As voters across Europe prepare to cast their ballots from Thursday to Sunday, it is becoming increasingly clear that this election will determine not only who will be elected but also what direction European politics will take in years ahead.
