On Sunday, Minkyu Kim secured his second career Open Championship berth after winning the Kolon Korea Open. The 23-year-old South Korean had also qualified for the 2022 Open at St. Andrews earlier in the year after winning his first Korea Open title. Meanwhile, runner-up Younghan Song earned his ticket to Royal Troon next month through the Open Qualifying Series. This will be Song’s second appearance at the Open, after tying for 62nd in 2017.
Meanwhile, Guido Migliozzi emerged victorious in a playoff against Joe Dean and Marcus Kinhult at the DP World Tour’s KLM Open on Sunday. Migliozzi and Dean secured two of the four Open berths available through this event, with Dean winning a world-ranking tiebreaker over Kinhult. These events were the eighth and ninth of 12 worldwide events that offer Open exemptions.
Players who have already qualified via this series include winners like Dean Burmester, Joaquin Niemann, Jeunghun Wang, Brendon Todd, and others. Still to be played are the John Deere Classic, Italian Open, and Genesis Scottish Open, which will also offer Open exemptions. The Open Championship is set to take place from July 18-21 at Royal Troon in Scotland.
