In October 2023, Gateshead FC appointed Rob Elliot as the new manager after the departure of Mike Williamson. He was joined by Louis Storey as his assistant. The duo led the team to their first FA Trophy victory and a sixth-place finish in the National League. Despite their success, Gateshead were unable to compete in the play-offs due to not meeting the Football League’s ground ownership requirements.
Elliot and Storey took over management at Gateshead with an impressive record of 21 wins from 38 games in all competitions while maintaining the team’s position. The caretaker management team had been successful in leading the team to Wembley.
Chairman Neil Pinkerton expressed his satisfaction with Elliot and Storey’s work, stating that it was always the club’s intention to offer them permanent roles. He highlighted the team’s hard work in the off-season and expressed confidence in their recruitment plans for the upcoming season. With Elliot at the helm and Storey by his side, Gateshead fans can look forward to continued success both on and off the field.
