T’Vondre Sweat, the Tennessee Titans’ second-round draft pick and defensive lineman, has been absent from open practices since rookie minicamp due to an injury. He was also missing during the first day of mandatory minicamp. However, head coach Brian Callahan assured the media that Sweat’s absence is not long-term and he is expected to return by training camp at the latest. Callahan also mentioned that Sweat could possibly make a comeback for the final sessions of organized team activities next week.

On the other hand, Jeffery Simmons, another defensive lineman, has also been sidelined during the voluntary portion of the offseason program. Callahan stated that Simmons is dealing with a short-term injury, without elaborating further. Although Simmons is present during mandatory minicamp, he is not participating.

While there is no cause for concern regarding Simmons as he is an experienced player who can afford to miss time, the situation with Sweat is different. The Titans are counting on him to potentially start in his rookie year, so the more practice time he misses, the more challenging it will be for him to be prepared for that role. Fortunately, it seems that Sweat’s injury is not severe, but the sooner he returns to practice, the better for his development.
