Auburn football has been actively recruiting this summer, and their efforts have paid off with several recruits committing to Auburn after their official visits. The latest recruit who could join the trend is Herbert Scroggins, a three-star EDGE from Savannah, Georgia.

Scroggins was among 12 recruits who visited campus last weekend, along with USC commits Daune Morris and Julian Lewis, and four-star EDGE Zion Grady. Scroggins had previously considered ACC schools but is now leaning towards Auburn after his visit.

According to Chad Simmons of On3, Scroggins’ visit was a “momentum-changing” experience for both him and Auburn, leading the Tigers to become the favorites in his recruitment. With his commitment date approaching next week, the race for Scroggins will be interesting to watch. Auburn hosted Scroggins with high expectations, and it seems that they made a strong impression on him during his visit. North Carolina, along with Miami and Georgia Tech, were seen as competitors, but Auburn now seems to be in the lead.

On3 has given Auburn a 98.7% chance of signing Scroggins, and two crystal balls from 247Sports favor his commitment to the Tigers. During his visit, Scroggins expressed his desire to find a balance between academics and football, something that Auburn seems to offer. He highlighted the university’s academic opportunities and their strong football program as factors that attracted him.

Scroggins attends Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia and is ranked as Georgia’s No. 37 overall recruit for the 2025 class by On3 and the No
