The sixth annual Nexstar Sports Awards and Hall of Fame banquet will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the campus of MSU Texas. One of the awards being presented is the Large School Coach of the Year, which will be given to one of three Texoma coaches from Class 4A or 5A schools.
The nominees for the 2024 Large School Coach of the Year are Marc Bindel for Rider Raiders Football, Jeremy Crouch for Rider Raiders Baseball, and Carl Wiersema for Rider Raiders Girl’s Soccer.
Marc Bindel led the Rider Raiders Football team to their first district title in 16 years in 2024 and closed out the season with their tenth consecutive playoff appearance. Jeremy Crouch achieved a career-high of 26 wins in 2024 for Rider Raiders Baseball and surpassed 200 career wins as a head coach. Carl Wiersema, the longest active tenured coach at a WFISD program, led the Lady Raiders Soccer team to their fifth district championship in six years.
