Rhodes College has been awarded a $502,946 grant from the National Science Foundation to fund research on the effects of carbon dioxide concentrations on dimorphic fungi. This collaborative research project will involve undergraduate students from LeMoyne-Owen College and will be led by Assistant Professor of Biology Qian Shen.

The study aims to uncover new insights into the impact of carbon dioxide on dimorphic fungi, with potential implications for combatting life-threatening fungal infections and reducing crop damage caused by fungal agents. This research has the potential to lead to breakthroughs in the field and contribute significantly to our understanding of fungi.

Congressman Steve Cohen expressed his support for the project, commending Rhodes College and LeMoyne-Owen College for their collaboration in this important research endeavor. He congratulated Professor Shen and all those involved in the study for their dedication and commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in this field. This grant award highlights the valuable contributions that these institutions are making to scientific research and innovation.
