The 5th Annual Kinetic Derby Day featuring iMAGINE is set to take place on April 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m on State and Meeting Streets in West Columbia. This exciting event will showcase human-powered vehicles as well as interactive STEAM exhibits, art installations and delicious food options.
The day begins with the Kinetic Sculpture Parade at 10:30 AM on Meeting Street, where participants in cartoon character costumes will showcase their creativity and engineering skills as they race their human-powered vehicles through the streets of West Columbia.
After the parade, attendees can head over to the iMAGINE STEAM Festival on State Street, which will feature over 30 interactive booths highlighting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) for all ages. Kids will have a blast in the Kids’ Zone with bounce houses and obstacle courses, providing fun for the whole family.
In addition to the STEAM Festival, there will be the Meeting Street Artisan Market, a giant slide, a food truck rally and chalk artists showcasing their work. For those seeking some excitement, the Soapbox and Obstacle Racing on Meeting Street at 11 AM and 1:30 PM will offer thrilling competitions for participants of all ages.
