The upcoming European Parliament elections are set to take place on June 9th, and Kauppalehti has created a voting machine to aid voters in selecting candidates. With 20 statements already answered by candidates, the machine allows voters to see which candidates and parties align best with their views. The topics covered by the machine include EU operations, foreign and security policy, environment and climate, and values.

By answering the statements in the machine, voters can gain a deeper understanding of where candidates stand on various issues. The machine categorizes responses as “completely disagree”, “disagree”, “neutral”, “agree”, or “completely agree”, providing a more accurate result based on the user’s responses. The results page displays the candidates and parties that most closely match the voter’s views.

The selection of candidates for the European Parliament elections is ongoing, with nominations ending on May 30th. The confirmed candidate list will be announced on May 10th, along with candidate numbers for the election. Early voting begins on May 29th, with election day scheduled for June 9th.

The voting machine allows users to view party values, compare candidates, and search for individual candidates to see their responses. As the candidate list may still change, the election machine may also update with new candidates. Ultimately, its goal is to provide voters with a tool to make an informed decision in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
