The 2024 College World Series is set to kick off this Friday, with ESPN broadcasting the entire event. In preparation for this momentous occasion, ESPN has introduced new cameras and sound technology to enhance the viewing experience for fans at home.

ESPN has brought five different camera angles to the coverage, in addition to the traditional ones seen in baseball broadcasts. Umpires at first and second base will be equipped with bodycam cameras, offering viewers a unique perspective on close plays along with the popular UmpCam.

Among the new cameras being introduced is an “Ultra Slo-Mo” camera, designed to showcase the relationship between runners and the ball, as well as track action at home plate and along the foul lines. On the audio side, ESPN has strategically placed around 100 microphones throughout the entire ballpark to capture every sound, from players to crowd noises.

The new additions in camera angles and sound technology are expected to elevate the viewing experience of the College World Series. Fans can witness these new features in action during Friday’s matchup between ACC rivals North Carolina and Virginia, with a start time of 1 p.m. CT. Karl Ravech, Eduardo Pérez, Ben McDonald, and Dani Wexelman will provide commentary from Omaha, explaining the new features and enhancing the overall viewing experience.

Overall, the 2024 College World Series promises to be an exciting event, closing out
