The California Science Center is hosting a temporary exhibit featuring Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket, the world’s first carbon composite orbital launch vehicle and the first to use 3D printed engines. This is the first time that the public will have the opportunity to view the historic rocket up close.

Peter Beck, founder and CEO of Rocket Lab, expressed pride in having his company’s creation included in an exhibit alongside other historic names in aerospace from Southern California. He emphasized that Rocket Lab’s mission is to make space accessible to everyone and hopes that Electron’s inclusion will inspire future leaders in STEM fields.

Electron has completed 50 launches from sites in New Zealand and Virginia, USA, and is known as one of the world’s most prolific launch vehicles. It is equipped with 10 3-D printed Rutherford engines, which were designed and fabricated in Long Beach, California. Since its first launch in 2017, Electron has successfully deployed 190 satellites to orbit for customers across commercial, civil, defense, and academic sectors.
