Miofive has released a new dash cam kit that is believed to be the world’s first 4K dual-camera system. The kit features two cameras, one for capturing footage in front of your car and another for recording what’s happening behind you. In our research of top front-and-rear dashcams, we found that most either have a higher quality camera for the front or offer two cameras that are not 4K quality.
However, many of the best dashcams now offer this feature, and it can be crucial when proving fault or understanding the sequence of events in case of an accident. The Miofive S1 Ultra features 8MP sensors in both cameras, capturing 4K footage at 30fps. This ensures comprehensive coverage from both the front and back of your vehicle. The front camera offers a 140° angle of view, while the rear camera provides a 112° view. Both cameras have maximum apertures of f/1.8 and f/2, respectively.
The S1 Ultra also comes equipped with built-in GPS to track your position and has a 3-inch LCD IPS display on the front unit. With the optional hardwire kit, which costs $30/£30, you can access various parking modes including a G-Sensor that offers 1fps timelapse video or collision detection. The dashcam also features Bluetooth and dual-channel Wi-Fi, allowing you to control the device and view footage remotely on your Apple or Android phone. You can store footage on a removable memory card, with the kit coming with a 64GB MicroSD card but upgradeable up to 512GB if needed.
The Miofive S1 Ultra is available for $169.99 / $199.99 but there are currently introductory coupons on Amazon that can save you $30 / $40 . We were impressed with previous Miofive’s 4K Dash Cam and have high hopes for this dual-camera model.
