Revolutionizing Regional Air Travel: Electra Aero’s Hybrid Electric EL-2 Goldfinch Takes Off in Virginia

Electra Aero, an American aerospace company, successfully conducted the first test flight of its EL-2 Goldfinch hybrid electric aircraft at Manassas Regional Airport in Virginia. The prototype, which has two seats, is expected to have nine seats in the final version.

The EL-2 Goldfinch is equipped with a unique hybrid electric motor system that operates with eight quiet electric motors powered by a large lithium battery pack. This technology allows the aircraft to take off and land entirely on electricity, reducing noise in densely populated areas. A booster generator enables the aircraft to perform longer flights at a cruise speed of 320 km/h.
