Toronto-based Shelfgram has been acquired by Field Agent, a Fayetteville-based company, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was financed through a partnership with Five Elms Capital. As part of the deal, people and assets from Shelfgram will become employees of Field Agent and remain in Toronto.
Field Agent CEO Rick West stated that the acquisition will enhance brands’ ability to monitor activities in stores and online using the AI-enabled Shelfgram platform. By utilizing millions of Field Agents’ crowdsourced photos and integrating them into Shelfgram’s platform, suppliers will gain a new understanding of category insights.
West explained that the acquisition aims to address current limitations in product visibility faced by the CPG industry. Field Agent collaborates with over 2 million connected shoppers worldwide to gather data on in-store prices, product availability, display compliance, and other features within the retail environment. Shelfgram’s planogram and display capturing technology further enhances suppliers’ understanding of what happens in stores when integrated with Field Agent data.
The combination of Field Agent’s data-rich photos provided by real shoppers with continuous input through Shelfgram’s AI platform offers a fresh perspective on category insights, West noted. This partnership aims to address existing challenges in product visibility faced by the CPG industry and offer new opportunities for brands.
West added that the collective expertise of Field Agent and Shelfgram will assist retail companies in conducting competitive market research, executing promotions, and optimizing displays to enhance customer satisfaction and engagement.
