The Monroe Mental Health app is a new public health initiative aimed at improving access to crisis services in Rochester, N.Y. With an increasing number of individuals experiencing mental health, addiction, or personal crises, the app is designed to provide users with essential wellness information and resources.

Recent data shows that over 43,000 people in Monroe County have received mental health services from provider agencies. The goal of the new app from the Monroe County Office of Mental Health is to simplify access to these services by consolidating a wide range of resources in one place. The app includes emergency crisis services, community programs for behavioral health, vocational support, respite, family support, self-help resources and more.

The Monroe Mental Health app is available for download on both Apple and Android devices and offers access to trained counselors 24/7. April Aycock, director of the Monroe County Office of Mental Health emphasized that the app not only as a resource for individuals in crisis but also for their friends and family members who can use it to connect with help and support right at their fingertips.

Jen Lake, president and CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes highlighted the convenience of being able to connect with help and support through the app in a world where many individuals experience feelings of distress. By normalizing seeking help and support through this app, it encourages those who need assistance to reach out for help without fear or shame.
