Fortress Technology will be showcasing their latest innovation, the Icon X-Ray, at the upcoming PPMA 2024 trade show. This fully integrated X-ray inspection system is specifically designed for use in hygienic, high-care food production facilities. The Icon X-Ray aims to improve processing efficiency, enhance consumer safety, and increase contaminant detection capabilities. It features internal view cameras, an automatic reject device, and Fortress Technology’s proprietary IA+ algorithm, which enhances processing and detection capabilities.
The Icon X-Ray is equipped with internal cameras to monitor product status and address any operational issues that may arise during inspection. It also features transparent high-density windows on the sliding access panels, which protect operators from X-rays while allowing them to observe the inspection process. The system is designed for robust, hygienic performance, with a fully-enclosed, maintenance-free air-cooled generator that enhances detection sensitivity and extends the lifespan of the X-ray generator.
Fortress Technology’s sales director Phil Brown emphasized that the Icon X-Ray sets a new standard for food safety and traceability that was previously only accessible to elite food brands. This innovative system is capable of inspecting and rejecting packaged chilled, baked, and confectionery products at speeds of up to 200ppm. The IA+ algorithm enables the machine to adapt to variable-density products and detect contaminants such as metal, ceramic, glass, and high-density plastic.
The Icon X-Ray supports rigorous sanitation processes with its ultra-hygienic design, featuring bevelled, easy-to-clean surfaces and fully contained panels to prevent contamination. It also offers seamless data integration and reporting capabilities
