Elizaveta Sakharova, a student at Omsk State Technical University (OmSTU), developed a technology for producing cellulose fibers under the guidance of Associate Professor Nikita Evdokimov. The goal of this research is to create “pure” cellulose fibers that can be used as a functional additive.

Cellulose fibers, which are dietary fibers that offer numerous health benefits such as aiding in the absorption of cholesterol and glucose, are in high demand across various industries. They are naturally occurring polymers that can be used in everything from paper production to biomedical applications.

Sakharova explained that soybean seed coatings are used in the production of these fibers. The researchers carefully select optimal conditions for the creation of the new product.

The researchers believe that this technology for obtaining cellulose fibers has great potential for companies processing soybeans, as well as for use in the food industry, particularly in the production of bakery products. The project is currently being tested in the laboratory and plans for implementation are being made in the near future.
