The University of Virginia Health System has recently opened an outpatient clinic specializing in laser eye surgeries. Located at 2955 Ivy Road off U.S. 250 inside the Northridge Medical Park just west of Charlottesville, UVa Health LASIK Northridge is now accepting patients.

The clinic offers a range of surgical procedures, including the popular LASIK procedure, which utilizes lasers to gently reshape the cornea and correct conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatisms. In addition to LASIK surgery, the clinic also provides photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgeries, which do not require making a small cut in the cornea to pull back tissue. Instead, these surgeries involve using lasers to reshape the cornea directly.

Prior to undergoing any surgical procedures, all patients are required to attend a screening appointment to confirm their eligibility for laser eye surgery. Both LASIK and PRK surgeries can be completed in less than an hour and patients are able to return home on the same day as their procedure.

UVa Health states that patients who undergo LASIK surgery typically return to work within a few days, while PRK surgeries usually require a one-week recovery period. Operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, UVa Health LASIK Northridge is ready to assist patients in need of laser eye surgeries. To schedule an appointment or receive more information about UVa Health LASIK Northridge’s services, individuals may contact the clinic at (434) 982-2010
