Brain surgery has undergone a significant transformation thanks to the emergence of new technologies and techniques. Dr. Chu Tan Si, M.D., M.D. II, head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted the importance of these advancements in treating cranial and neuro-spinal diseases that can cause severe damage to the nervous system. These diseases can lead to permanent loss of neurological functions and death if left untreated promptly.

Traditional surgical methods, while effective in removing tumors and hematomas, can often result in neurological sequelae such as weakness, vision disorders, or loss of language ability. This is because doctors may not have a clear view of all structures in the brain during surgery, potentially causing damage to healthy tissues. However, modern technologies like the Neuro-Navigation Curve system and the K.Zeiss Kinevo 900 microsurgical microscope with 3D imaging function have improved the precision and efficacy of brain surgeries.

Advanced machines like the Cusa ultrasonic suction cutter and the Revolution Apex Elite CT scanner have also been introduced to support surgeries for stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, brain tumors, and spinal cord tumors. These tools allow for more precise and minimally invasive procedures, minimizing the risk of damage to surrounding structures and improving patient outcomes.

In addition to these advancements, ENRICH is a new minimally invasive emergency surgery technique for hemorrhagic stroke that has shown promising results in stopping bleeding and restoring neurological functions quickly.

Tam Anh General Hospital is at the forefront of providing cutting-edge neurosurgical care with a focus on rapid response and out-of-hospital emergency care. By deploying modern technologies and techniques, the hospital aims to reduce the impact of neurological diseases and improve patient outcomes.
