The Laredo Sector Border Patrol has recently deployed a Multi-Energy Portal (MEP), an advanced Non-Intrusive Inspection device for commercial vehicles. This technology is aimed at enhancing the safety of the traveling public while also expediting trade processes at the I-35 Border Patrol Checkpoint. The MEP is an x-ray machine designed with heavy shielding to improve inspections of commercial vehicles, ensuring a safe and quick examination process.

The installation of the MEP has allowed the system to scan over 150 containers per hour in the typical flow of traffic at the checkpoint. This technology allows for more efficient and thorough inspections of commercial vehicles, ultimately benefiting both border security and trade facilitation efforts. The deployment of the MEP at the I-35 Border Patrol Checkpoint is a significant step forward in utilizing cutting-edge technology to enhance border security measures.
