The next generation of Apple Intelligence is set to be integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, offering a unique user experience through the combination of generative AI and personal context. However, the system may not be available on all models due to hardware limitations.

The iPhone 15 Pro series is equipped with the necessary processor and RAM to support Apple Intelligence’s demands, while the iPhone 15 may not meet these requirements. The A17 Pro chip, with its neural engine and 16 cores capable of executing 35 trillion operations per second, is key to running large language models efficiently.

Apple executives have emphasized that the computational demands of these models require at least 8GB of RAM and a powerful neural engine like the one found in the iPhone 15 Pro series. Craig Federighi, Apple’s Head of Software Engineering, highlighted the extraordinary capabilities of running such powerful models on an iPhone. Meanwhile, John Giannandrea, Head of AI and Machine Learning at Apple, underscored the importance of hardware in accelerating these large language models for practical use.

In conclusion, while Apple Intelligence has the potential to revolutionize user experience on Apple devices by combining generative AI with personal context, hardware limitations may restrict its availability on certain devices.
