Marvell Technology, Inc. (MRVL) specializes in data infrastructure semiconductor solutions and has recently introduced the Marvell Alaska A 1.6T PAM4 digital signal processor for active electrical cables. This device is the first 1.6 Tbps AEC DSP designed to meet the increasing bandwidth demands brought on by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning applications.

The latest addition to the Alaska A family is built on a 5nm process and makes use of Marvell’s PAM4 DSP technology to enable short-reach copper interconnect solutions for accelerated infrastructure. The AEC silicon market is projected to grow at a 64% annual rate, reaching $1 billion by 2028, according to 650 Group. Alan Weckel, co-founder of 650 Group, highlighted that AI is pushing the need for short-reach copper connectivity at 1.6T. Marvell’s release of its Alaska 1.6T AEC DSP continues the company’s tradition of providing top-tier PAM DSPs, allowing cable vendors to offer optimized interconnect solutions for various cloud AI architectures.
