In Kokdala, Xinjiang, China, Runtai Agricultural Technology Development has introduced a groundbreaking agricultural project. The company’s “smart” greenhouse utilizes advanced technologies to efficiently and sustainably grow tomatoes without soil.

Spanning 16 hectares, this smart greenhouse operates as an intelligent agricultural park that has attracted investments and implemented cutting-edge Dutch agricultural technology. With this approach, annual tomato production is increased by 5–6 times while using only 1/20 of the water typically required, greatly improving ecological sustainability.

The greenhouse adjusts irrigation based on weather conditions and plant needs, ensuring optimal growth with customized nutrient solutions. By digitally managing the entire process, costs have been reduced by over 40%, showing the efficiency benefits of smart farming techniques. This project highlights the potential for using advanced technologies in agriculture to increase productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
