Android devices are now equipped with more security features to help users recover stolen phones and protect their data. Leveraging artificial intelligence, devices from various brands can detect theft and implement innovative protection measures, such as automatic screen locking when a common theft movement is detected. This feature prevents thieves from accessing the data stored on the device.

In addition to automatic screen locking, the new Offline Device Lock feature locks the screen if the device is disconnected from the network, providing added protection for user data. Through the Find My Device app, users can mark their device as stolen or lost, and remotely lock their phone’s screen using a security challenge to buy time for recovery or data deletion.

To further safeguard their devices, users can take additional steps such as preventing shutdown or restart by setting a password, and ensuring that airplane mode cannot be activated to prevent thieves from hiding the device from the network. With these added security measures, Android users can have more peace of mind knowing that their data is better protected in case of theft. These new features will be available on Android devices with an update to Google Play Services in the coming months.
