Veteran cornerback Steven Nelson has announced his retirement from the NFL after a successful nine-year career. Despite receiving interest from several teams such as the Texans, Raiders, Giants, Rams, Commanders, and Dolphins, Nelson has decided to step away from the game in order to spend more time with his pregnant wife, Monica, and his family. In addition to focusing on his family, Nelson will also be pursuing various business ventures.

In a statement to Wilson of KPRC, Nelson expressed his pride in his football career and the journey that led him to where he is today. Reflecting on his humble beginnings in a small town and attending junior college before ultimately making it to the NFL, Nelson acknowledged the hardships he faced and overcame. He emphasized the importance of spending time with loved ones and expressed gratitude for the opportunities football has provided him.
