A Tennessee driver accidentally crashed her car into Wytheville’s Waffle House on Wednesday morning, though fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. This marks the third time in recent years that a vehicle has collided with a business in the town. The driver, 61-year-old Robin Noe from Kingsport, Tennessee, explained that her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator as she was attempting to park in front of the Waffle House, leading to the crash through the glass and into the building. Police were called to the scene at 1,400 East Main St. at 3:47 a.m. But upon investigation, they found no evidence of driver impairment and did not press charges, considering the crash a private property incident to be settled by insurance companies.
In February of this year, another similar accident occurred at Wytheville’s Dollar Tree store when a 71-year-old woman mistakenly pressed her accelerator instead of braking pedal and drove her Ford Taurus through the front of the business. Two people were injured in this incident. Despite these occurrences, efforts are being made to ensure public safety and prevent similar accidents in the future. In fact, just last year a 92-year-old woman also mistakenly drove into Dollar Tree store causing damage but no injuries were reported in that incident.
