Rep. Mike Thompson recently secured $4,116,279 in funding for the construction of the Clearlake Burns Valley Sports Complex and Recreation Center through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024. The check was presented to the City of Clearlake, with Thompson emphasizing the importance of youth sports for the community.

The Clearlake Burns Valley Sports Complex Project aims to create a community sports and recreation center that will improve access to sports and recreational amenities in the area. The new complex is expected to establish Clearlake as a premier destination for sporting events and tournaments, as Lake County currently lacks facilities to host such activities. A study conducted by Synergy Sports Global predicts that the new complex will bring in over 40,000 additional annual visitors and result in 10,000 more hotel room stays, generating an estimated $8.6 million for the local economy each year.

This recent check presentation marks the second round of funding that Rep. Thompson has helped secure for the Burns Valley Sports Complex Project. In January of 2023, Thompson presented the City of Clearlake with a $2,000,000 check to support the development of the complex. Together, these funds will contribute to the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that will benefit the community and boost economic growth in Clearlake.
