The Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees had a standoff that caused a delay in Thursday’s game. Reds infielders Graham Ashcraft and Carson Spiers had an altercation with Yankees’ Ian Hamilton and Cody Poteet before the game began. After the national anthem, Ashcraft and Spiers stood at attention for over five minutes, with Spiers eventually walking back to the dugout while Ashcraft stayed on the field.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone instructed his players to end the standoff, but despite the delay, Cincinnati ended up beating New York 8-4 to sweep the three-game series at Yankee Stadium. The Reds will now be back at home this weekend, hosting the Detroit Tigers at Great American Ball Park. It was an eventful game that ended with the Reds celebrating their victory over the Yankees, marking a successful end to their series on the road.
