In the one-point competition, Sullivan wore a set of bright red trousers and red, white, and blue Nikes to match his US teammates. He expressed his excitement but also emphasized the need to stay focused while competing.

Nico Wiener won stage one and was seeded 12th with 711 points. Thirteen compound men and three compound women scored 710 or more points. Han Seungyeon had 711 points, one point more than Luxembourg’s Mariya Shkolna and her Korean teammate Oh Yoohyun at the top of the leaderboard. Han expressed happiness with his score but also mentioned his frustration from a previous competition in Shanghai where he didn’t achieve the desired results.

Both Seungyeon and Shkolna had previous competition bests of 704 points. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who won the season opener, qualified fourth with 707 points, and reigning Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion Sara Lopez was fifth with 705 points. Han’s top seed led the Korean compound women’s team to shoot a new qualifying world record of 2126 points combined.

Competition in Yecheon will continue with compound eliminations in the morning and recurve qualifying in the afternoon on Wednesday.
