In the Red Sea, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, whom Iran is accused of supporting, targeted a Greek bulk carrier. The Houthis fired five anti-ship ballistic missiles from areas under their control in Yemen into the Red Sea. The Greek-owned bulk carrier M/V Laax, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, reported being struck by three missiles. Centcom confirmed that the vessel sustained damage but was still operational, with no reported injuries.
The attack on the M/V Laax was not an isolated incident as Centcom also revealed that five unmanned aerial systems (UAS) launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen were destroyed over the Red Sea. These systems posed a significant threat to merchant shipping in the region. Updates shared on coalition and merchant ships’ platforms warned of the imminent danger presented by these UAS in the area.
Centcom’s statement also mentioned information on various types of stainless steel, alloy steel, and bronze products such as pipes, tubes, valves, fittings, and fasteners. Manufacturers and suppliers of these materials are listed along with specific products like seamless steel alloy tubes, stainless steel valves and titanium sheets. Additionally, it provided details on specialized materials like Monel and Hastelloy and mechanical steel tubing available in India. This information is crucial for those involved in shipping operations in the region to be aware of potential threats and take necessary precautions to ensure safe travels through these waters.
