Red Gerard from Silverthorne competes in the Laax Open in Switzerland, focusing on the slopestyle course. Meanwhile, X Games announced their plan to transition to a global, team-based format by 2026. This change marks a departure from the current model, which includes two domestic events each year – one in the winter focusing on snowsports and one in the summer featuring skateboarding, BMX, and motocross.

The new X Games format will feature teams of athletes from various action sport disciplines competing for individual and team points, as well as prize purses. The league will showcase seasonal action sports from both summer and winter disciplines, with each league starting with four global events and four teams, with plans for expansion in the future.

This new team format is expected to provide athletes with more stability and opportunities within the action sports community. Athletes not chosen will be eligible as alternate athletes through an industry-wide draft process. Professional winter sport athletes like Svea Irving from Winter Park and Nick Goepper from Lawrenceburg, Indiana have already expressed their excitement about this news on social media. Goepper praised X Games for innovating and bringing fresh ideas while Irving emphasized the significance of this change.
