The Scotland Women’s Euro 2025 qualifier against Israel in Glasgow was delayed when a protester chained himself to a goalpost at Hampden Park. The demonstrator, wearing a T-shirt with the slogan ‘Red card for Israel’, caused the delay for over half an hour as security attempted to remove him. The match was meant to be played behind closed doors, with no spectators allowed due to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.

On the day of the match, pro-Palestinian protests were taking place outside the stadium, adding to the tension surrounding the fixture. Scottish Friends of Palestine and other campaign groups criticized the decision by the Scottish Football Association (SFA) to proceed with the match, accusing it of trying to cover up Israel’s actions through sports.

The SFA had previously announced that the game would be played without spectators due to security concerns. The decision was made following consultations with relevant parties and updated intelligence. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza has resulted in casualties on both sides, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. The situation remains tense, with no immediate resolution in sight.
