In December, the Baltimore Ravens made the decision to sign quarterback Malik Cunningham from the New England Patriots practice squad, reuniting him with his former college teammate Lamar Jackson. Initially expected to compete with rookie Devin Leary for the third-string quarterback position behind Jackson and Josh Johnson, Cunningham has now officially undergone a position switch. Ryan Mink noted in the team’s OTA notes that Cunningham is now listed as a wide receiver on Baltimore’s roster.
This means that Jackson will now have the opportunity to throw passes to Cunningham, who followed him as Louisville’s starting quarterback. As for where Cunningham fits in on the depth chart at wide receiver, in Baltimore’s base 3-WR, 1-TE set, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor are likely the starters. Devontez Walker, Deonte Harty, and Tylan Wallace are likely to round out the two-deep.
Beyond that, the competition is open. Cunningham could potentially impress enough to earn a position on the third-string line, but there is also competition with recent signee Qadir Ismail from rookie mini-camp.
