In honor of National HIV Testing Day, the Central Michigan District Health Department is offering free rapid HIV testing on Thursday. Testing is confidential and by appointment only, with results available in just 20 minutes. Appointments can be made by calling the CMDHD Community Health office in Mt. Pleasant or self-test kits for HIV are available for home delivery.

Knowing your status is crucial for protecting your health, as early detection and treatment can greatly improve outcomes. The Central Michigan District Health Department also offers free STI testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and hepatitis C every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Appointments are recommended but walk-in clients are accepted as time allows. More information about the STI testing program can be found on the CMDHD website.

For those who qualify, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program treatment offers medical care, medications, and support services to eligible clients. National HIV Testing Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of HIV testing and encourage at-risk individuals to get tested. In the U.S., over 36,000 new HIV infections occur each year with some individuals unaware of their status and in need of testing.
