The Texas Rangers placed left-hander Brock Burke on the injured list on Saturday with a fractured hand. The 27-year-old Burke suffered the injury after punching a wall in frustration following a poor outing against the Houston Astros on Friday night, according to Jared Sandler of 105.3 The Fan. In his previous outing against the Astros, he allowed a run on three hits without recording an out, leading the Rangers to trail by two runs.
Having racked up 116 appearances in his four-year big-league career, Burke holds a 3.88 ERA (112 ERA+) and a 3.58 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In corresponding moves, the Rangers brought veteran right-hander Austin Pruitt on board and moved infielder Justin Foscue to the 60-day injured list. Pruitt has a career ERA of 4.43 (93 ERA+) in 310 innings while Foscue injured his oblique in just his second big-league game.
As the defending World Series champions, the Rangers are currently leading the American League East with an 8-6 record at the start of the season. Despite their recent struggles, they remain optimistic about their chances of making it back to postseason play and winning another championship title.
