Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is looking for more guaranteed money beyond the 2024 season, and it seems that Rams coach Sean McVay is willing to accommodate his request. However, McVay has made it clear that the negotiations will remain private until an agreement is reached.

During a press conference on Tuesday, McVay emphasized the importance of keeping the situation “in house” out of respect for all parties involved. He expressed gratitude for Stafford’s dedication and leadership during the voluntary OTAs, despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract. Stafford’s continued participation indicates his commitment to the team even without the desired security in place.

It is possible that Stafford may also be seeking additional compensation following a recent mega-deal for another quarterback that was traded away to acquire him. While McVay declined to provide specific details about the contract negotiations, he acknowledged that there is a pending situation that needs to be addressed. Stafford has shown faith by attending OTAs and is hopeful that a resolution will be reached before training camp begins.

If an agreement cannot be reached by then, Stafford may need to make a decision about his continued involvement with the team. Despite the uncertainty, both parties seem committed to finding a resolution that benefits everyone involved. For now, the specifics of the contract talks remain confidential until a final decision is made.
