The Eden Valley-Watkins School District is hosting its third annual Glory Days Festival to raise funds for a sports complex. The event is a grassroots effort to provide the school’s athletes with their own facilities. Currently, the district does not have a football field of its own, only a baseball field, and the track team has to be bused to a neighboring school for practice.

The goal of the fundraiser is to build a football field for Friday night games and a track field for practice and community events like 5Ks. A previous attempt to pass a referendum for the sports complex failed, leading organizers to hold Glory Days to raise funds without burdening local landowners with additional taxes.

In the past two years, the festival has generated approximately $185,000, but it is expected to take at least five more years to reach the $3 million needed to begin construction. Glory Days will take place on June 8th at Cozy Corners Campground, featuring food vendors, kids’ activities, live music, a beanbag tournament, bingo, and auctions.
