An investigation is currently ongoing following a devastating fire that heavily damaged a manufacturing business in Lee’s Summit. The fire occurred at Newco Manufacturing, located just west of Southwest Scherer Road and MO-291 Highway.

Residents inside the facility were in the process of evacuating as soon as the fire broke out. Emergency crews received a call around 11 a.m. reporting a fire in the paint room of the business. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke billowing from the building.

Additional firefighters were called in to assist in containing the fire, which caused the roof of the building to partially collapse, resulting in further damage inside the structure. Unfortunately, Newco Manufacturing has suffered significant damage due to this incident and its operations are likely to be impacted for some time to come.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined as authorities continue their investigation. Our thoughts are with those affected by this disaster and we hope for a swift recovery for Newco Manufacturing and its employees during these challenging times ahead.
