Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek emerged as the race leader after winning stage six of the Criterium du Dauphine. The 27-year-old rider put in a strong performance during the final climb at Le Collet d’Allevard, with teammate Aleksandr Vlasov providing crucial support. Despite being involved in a crash during Thursday’s stage, Ciccone appeared to be mostly unharmed.

Another Tour de France hopeful, Primoz Roglic of Team Jumbo-Visma, finished eighth in stage six after suffering injuries in the crash that neutralized stage five. This result caused him to lose his 33-second lead in the race, placing him 19 seconds behind Ciccone. Remco Evenepoel of Soudal Quick-Step came in second in the stage, with Vlasov finishing third.

The Criterium du Dauphine serves as a preparation race for the Tour de France, with the final two stages set to take place on Saturday and Sunday. The race’s general classification after stage six has Ciccone in the lead, followed by Evenepoel and Jorgenson in second and third place, respectively. The competition is tight, with riders like Roglic and Rodriguez also in contention for the overall title. The remaining stages will undoubtedly be action-packed as the cyclists vie for victory.
